The 20-year-old girl, who was allegedly gang raped and set afire by a youth in Desarmau village in Ekdil area, died during treatment at a hospital in Etawah on Thursday night, officials said.
The victim was undergoing treatment at the hospital in Saifai after she was allegedly gang raped and set afire by one Farman and his associates, on July 11.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s brother, Mr. Farman, who was pressurising her to marry him and his five associates raped the girl and then set ablaze her.
Infuriated over the incident, the locals had tried to set Mr. Farman’s house ablaze but the elders in the village mediated and brought the situation under control.
