Ensure peace, says Mehbooba

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday asked people of the Valley “to ensure peace for a dialogue process and for more cross-Line of Control (LoC) links”.

“Give me peace, I will pursue dialogue and open routes like Kargil-Skardu, Jammu-Sialkot, Nowshehra-Jhangar etc. I wish people on both sides would march together on the path of growth and development,” said Ms. Mufti in her speech in south Kashmir’s Devsar.

The Chief Minister, who is facing heightened militancy and street protests in the Valley, said a consultative process had begun in the State to sort out issues and to develop J&K as a modern State.

She expressed concern over the “deaths and destruction being reported frequently from the border”. “It is unfortunate that in 21st century when people should be demanding better schools, good hospitals and efficient services, they are asking for bunkers to protect themselves,” the Chief Minister said.
