Election Commission in Assam to review poll readyness

The full Election Commission of India arrived here today to review the poll preparedness in Assam for the coming assembly elections in the State.

The EC team is headed by Chief Election Commissioner S Y Qureshi and is accompanied by Election Commissioner V S Sampath and other senior members, official sources said.

The EC is scheduled to meet leaders of different political parties for taking their views on the polls in the State and also discuss various issues, including the law and order situation.

The Commission is expected to take decision on holding polls after reviewing the situation on the ground, the sources added.
