‘Efforts on to find settlement with activists on outsiders issue’

June 10, 2013 02:22 am | Updated 02:22 am IST - IMPHAL

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said efforts were on to find a settlement with organisations, demanding checking the entry of outsiders to the State. As many as 28 activists arrested for launching such a campaign were released unconditionally on Saturday.

However, the activists, who formed a Joint Action Committee, said the campaign would be intensified. Non-locals could not enter the residential areas till June 15 for hawking items.

They intercepted buses and private vehicles along highway 2 to force them to return.

Mr. Singh assured citizens that the State would get tough with activists who harass them.
