Editor of banned Maoist magazine dead

Editor of a banned Maoist magazine Swapan Dasgupta died in a government hospital here on Tuesday. Mr. Dasgupta, in his late 60s, was the editor of the Bengali version of People’s March .

“Swapan Dasgupta was admitted to SSKM hospital here on December 17 and he died this [on Tuesday] morning,” Superintendent of the hospital Debashis Bhattacharya told PTI .

When asked about the cause of the death, he said “that is yet to be ascertained. The body has been sent for post-mortem and a forensic test will also be done. Only after that the exact reason behind his death can be told.”
