Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday announced an Rs.48 crore economic package for the integral development of Ellenabad region.
Addressing a well-attended pre-election rally, Mr.Hooda blamed late Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal and his son Om Parkash Chautala, Indian National Lok Dal chief and former Chief Minister, for the “lack of development’’ in the area. Interestingly, Mr.Chautala had won the Ellenabad seat in the October Assembly polls but he had relinquished it as he preferred to retain the Ucchana Kalan seat.
Mr. Hooda asserted that the Devi Lal clan had ruled the State for 10 years but had failed to solve problems of drinking and irrigation water in this area. He also announced to conduct a survey for working out a permanent solution to the problem of irrigation water.
He added that out of the economic package, Rs.18 crore would be spent on providing potable water to Ellenabad town and Rs. 10 crore each would be spent on laying sewerage system and providing drinking water facilities in the villages of the constituency. In addition to it, Rs. 10 crore would be given separately for the development of villages of the constituency.
While attributing the Congress victory in the recent polls to the developmental activities carried by his regime in the last tenure and the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said that Congress nominees had lost in Sirsa district as Mr.Chautala had “misled the people of this area by promising that INLD would form the government.”
He urged the party workers to rise above pettiness and work to ensure the victory of the party nominee in the upcoming by-election.
