As the Election Commission is likely to take a decision shortly on the dates for holding the poll to the 243-member Bihar Assembly, whose term is expires on November 27, a Bharatiya Janata Party–Janata Dal (U) delegation met the Commission and urged it to dismiss the allegation made by some Opposition parties.

The Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, had made allegations against the Nitish Kumar government on the posting of district magistrates from other State cadres and appointment of sub-divisional officers belonging to one caste.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabbha Arun Jaitley and senior JD (U) leader Shivanand Tiwari, who led the BJP-JD (U) delegation to the Commission on Friday, said the Opposition's allegations were “calculated and designed with a view to causing prejudice and suspicion in the mind of EC.”

They wanted the Commission to dismiss them as “they are frivolous, false, baseless and mischievous complaints.”
