Lokayukt sleuths have recovered at least three crores worth of disproportionate assets from Deputy Labour Commissioner LP Pathak in Indore. The Special Police Establishment (SPE), which is the Lokayukt’s enforcement arm, suspects Mr. Pathak’s ill gotten wealth came for industries he aided in labour disputes.
Deputy Superintendent (SPE- Indore) GD Sharma said that documents for 90 acres of farms, a residential plot and a temple in Singrauli, three plots, a bungalow and an apartment in Indore; a two storey-building in Rau; Rs 14 lakhs in several bank accounts and; Rs 15 lakh investments in shares, debentures and bonds, gold ornaments and silver vessels worth several lakhs was recovered from his premises.
Their valuation is still in progress.
Mr. Pathak, who joined as a Class I officer around three decades back, faced a bribery case by the Lokayukt during the Digvijaya Singh regime in the late nineties. Yet, he managed to rise through the ranks for more than a decade before being nabbed again.
