Director Shlok Sharma at centre of logo row

April 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - Pune:

The Pune police have registered a case against film-maker Shlok Sharma on a complaint by Balbharati, Maharashtra’s textbook bureau, objecting to striking similarities between its logo and promotion scenes from Mr. Sharma’s upcoming film Haramkhor .

Balbharati had earlier accused Mr. Sharma and other crew members of tampering with its logo and illegally using it for promotion of his film.

Accordingly, the police have lodged an FIR against Mr. Sharma, designer Tarini D. and film’s producer Ajay Yadav under Sections 420 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the IT Act and Sections 51, 63, 63 (a) of the Copyrights Act.

The Balbharati’s official logo for textbooks from Class I to VIII depicts a little girl studying with her brother.
