Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh approached the state police through his counsel asking for a fresh date for appearing before them as he was away in the US for treatment of his daughter.
Mr. Singh was served a notice at his official residence in Bhopal on Sunday for appearing before the police on September 30 (tomorrow) in connection with a probe for alleged irregularities in appointments at the Madhya Pradesh State Assembly secretariat between 1993 and 2003.
However, his lawyer Ajay Gupta sent a letter on behalf of Mr Singh that he should be given a fresh date as he was away in America in connection with the treatment of his daughter.
Bhopal police had registered a case against Mr. Singh, Congress General Secretary, former MP assembly Speaker Sriniwas Tiwari and others under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including forgery, conspiracy, cheating, misuse of office and other sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, after a complaint lodged by the MP Assembly secretariat. -- PTIs
