Leading Islamic seminary Darul-uloom Deoband on Saturday said that the school is an educational institution and does not appeal in favour of any political party.

“However, the doors of institution is open for all to visit,” the seminary’s official Ashraf Usmani told PTI in Muzaffarnagar when asked about the recent visit of AAP leader Manish Sisodia at the school.

He clarified that the seminary did not appeal in favour of any political party for votes, including AAP, saying that the Darul-uloom had accepted Mr. Sisodia’s request to visit the institution as he had requested formally to meet with Deputy VC Maulana Abdul Khaliq Sambhali.

There were reports in a section of media that the AAP leader had sought support in favour of his party when he had visited the Darul-uloom Deoband on March 20.
