Work by NDRF to rescue people in collapsed building completed
It was merely a month back that Amol and Pooja Patankar moved into a flat in a building on Dockyard Road which collapsed on Friday morning.
Amol, 30, was found dead on Saturday while his wife Pooja suffered serious injuries.
The building, owned by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, was under C2 A category which meant that the ‘dangerous part of the building needs demolition.’ Seven BMC officers responsible for its maintenance have been suspended.
The National Disaster Response Force announced on Sunday morning that the rescue work had been completed. The death toll has reached 61. Eight persons were rescued without any injuries.
