DCPs face suspension if dance bars function: R.R. Patil

Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil on Friday said that he will suspend DCPs by tomorrow evening if dance bars continue to function in their respective areas.

Mr. Patil made the announcement while replying to a supplementary by Pravin Darekar (MNS) during the question hour.

Mr. Darekar complained that despite the ban, dance bars thrive in the western suburbs of Mumbai creating law and order problems with locals facing lot of problems.

He said the bar girls live in Navi Mumbai and Dahisar checknaka.

The Home Minister asked the member to give him details of where the dance bars are functioning.

“If Mr. Darekar gives me details, I will suspend the DCPs of the concerned areas by tomorrow evening,” Mr. Patil said.

He also announced that if the police were turning a blind eye to illegal activities in their respective areas, the police inspector of the local police station and the Superintendent of Police of the district concerned will be held responsible.
