Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday warned his party activists to be ready for ‘never-seen-before’ political environment in the State ahead of the coming Assembly elections. At a party meeting here, Mr. Thackeray said the ‘pink’ days of politics were nearing an end. According to a senior party leader, Mr. Thackeray said, “It is going to get darker. You have to be ready for it.”
An MNS leader who spoke to The Hindu on condition of anonymity said Mr. Thackeray’s statement indicated the possible political infighting in all the parties in the State ahead of the elections in October, where alliances might be broken and new ones be formed.
Mr. Thackeray in his speech opposed the municipality’s recent move of surveying hawkers in Mumbai. “It is nothing but an attempt to increase the number of voters. My party will oppose the move,” he said.
