Dacoits loot train passengers; jawan injured

An army jawan was injured when he tried to resist a gang of dacoits who looted passengers of their belongings in the Howrah-Bhopal Superfast Express in Latehar district, police said on Tuesday.

Shashi Kapur was shot at when he and two of his colleagues travelling on the train tried to resist a gang of 12 dacoits in the train on Monday night, Superintendent of Police (Railway) Manoj Kumar Chouthey said.

Mr. Kapur, who sustained injuries in his hand and leg, was shifted to Medininagar Sadar Hospital.

The dacoits looted over two dozen passengers between Komandi-ehegada stations.
