The fourth round of tripartite discussions among the Centre, the West Bengal government and the leadership of the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) that will be held in Darjeeling on Monday is critical as it could well determine the future course of politics in the region .
The talks that have been convened to resolve the impasse arising from the GJM’s demand for a separate State have, however, been preceded by differences over the agenda.
The differing viewpoints were accentuated in the wake of the Centre’s decision to initiate the process for creation of a Telangana state earlier this month - one that has given a fillip to the GJM’s movement for a “Gorkhaland” State.
