CPI (Maoist) demands Sai Baba’s release

June 03, 2014 10:44 pm | Updated 10:44 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Communist Party of India (Maoist) has condemned the recent arrest of suspended Delhi University professor G.N. Saibaba and the other office-bearers of the Revolutionary Democratic Front (RDF) over alleged links with the banned outfit.

In an open letter, the outfit’s spokesperson Abhay said the RDF firmly supported the ongoing “revolutionary movement”.

“It is one of the hundreds of progressive and revolutionary organisations that denounced Operation Green Hunt [government’s military offensive against the Naxals] as a war against the masses. Therefore, governments at the Centre and in the States have started arresting RDF leaders on false charges. Saibaba is one among them,” he said.

The CPI (Maoist) spokesperson said the arrest was an indication of what was in the offing under the new dispensation at the Centre.
