The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday condemned the reception given by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last week to legislators accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots.

According to a statement put out by the CPI on the Central Secretariat deliberations, the BJP is directly insulting the memory of the innocents who were killed, injured and uprooted in the riots by honouring those who are involved in crimes.

The CPI said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi should come clean on the charges of snooping on a woman in Gujarat. Snooping was different from providing security to a woman as claimed by BJP leaders while defending the surveillance on the woman, the CPI said while demanding a judicial enquiry into the whole issue.
