Five days after a hullabaloo over a plastic cow installation at the Jaipur Art Summit, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers, agitated by the increasing number of cow deaths at an Ajmer municipal corporation-owned cowshed, smeared the faces of two officials with grease on Thursday.
Faces of Satyanarayan Sharma, the acting health officer with the municipal corporation, and Bhagwan Bachchani, the Revenue Officer also with the local body, were blackened by some VHP “miscreants” who were part of the mob protesting outside the cowshed against the cow deaths as a result of alleged lack of fodder and required care.
The two officials were visiting the protest spot to hold talks with the agitators and resolve the issue.
“An FIR was lodged [against the VHP workers] by the two officials in the afternoon [on Thursday],” said Station House Officer (SHO) of the Christian Ganj police station in Ajmer.
On Wednesday night, five cows died, following which protesters, including VHP workers, camped outside the bovine shelter on Thursday morning, blaming the municipal corporation for the deaths.
“The post-mortem report of the cows stated that the deaths were due to consumption of plastic and low immunity,” Mr. Sharma told The Hindu.
