The Delhi High Court will on Tuesday take up for hearing an anticipatory bail petition filed by the former Haryana Minister, Gopal Goyal Kanda, in the Geetika Sharma suicide case.
The Delhi Police have issued a look-out notice for him. The investigating agency has booked him for allegedly criminally intimidating Geetika and abetting her in suicide.
Counsel for Mr. Kanda K.T.S. Tulsi on Monday mentioned the filing of the bail petition before a Division Bench of the court comprising Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice Vipin Sanghi and requested that the matter be listed for hearing before a Bench on Monday or Tuesday.
Later, the Bench directed the Registry to list the matter for Tuesday.
In his petition, Mr. Kanda submitted that he had no role in Geetika committing suicide as she was a hypersensitive and frustrated girl and the suicide was the consequence of an unsound mind.
He further submitted that there was no direct evidence against him for allegedly abetting in the suicide as a suicide note found at her residence in which she had allegedly attributed the extreme step she took to harassment by Mr. Kanda and one of his employees in his defunct airline MDLR could not be termed an unimpeachable evidence like the dying declaration.
Charges grave
A lower court on August 9 dismissed his anticipatory bail petition, observing that the charges against him were grave and serious and there was a likelihood of his putting hindrance in the way of the investigation of the case by him.
Geetika was earlier a flight attendant in MDLR. She was found hanging at her Ashok Vihar residence on August 5.
