Court order on Pacheco today

April 28, 2015 11:10 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:07 pm IST - PANAJI:

Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Pooja Kavlekar will pronounce her order on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m. on the petition seeking directions to the Colva police in South Goa to register an FIR against absconding convict and former Minister and MLA Mickky Pacheco under Section 172 of IPC.

Advocate Aires Rodrigues, the petitioner, informed the court on Tuesday that all “cosmetic steps” to nab Mickky Pacheco were to just “hoodwink and take the court for a ride.”

The court was informed that the police had searched various houses in South Goa to locate Mickky Pacheco, the records, however, show that not a single search warrant had been sought by the police, he said.

Nuvem MLA Pacheco, who until April 3 was Rural Development Minister in Goa’s BJP-led government, is absconding for over two weeks. The Bombay High Court imposed a six-month jail sentence on him for having assaulted an Electricity Department junior engineer Kapil Natekar in 2006. The Supreme Court on March 30 upheld the High Court order.
