Court acquits Maoist leader, 6 others

Maoist Chenda Bhusanam alias Ghasi and six others were acquitted in cases related to murder of two persons by Maoists on Friday by Fast Track court of Koraput. On Jan 11, 2010 midnight Hari Sahukar and Biswanath Patra had been murdered by Maoists at Katulpeta village of Bandhugaon block in Koraput district.

According to the defence counsel Nihar Ranjan Patnaik, all the seven accused including Ghasi were acquitted by additional sessions judge of Fast Track Court, S.Prabhakar Rao due to insufficient evidence. It may be noted that Ghasi has ten more cases against him in Koraput district. Ghasi had around 48 cases of Maoist violence pending against him adjoining Andhra Pradesh.
