Counting of votes today

Counting of votes in the Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland Assembly elections and Assembly by-polls in seven States will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The trend is expected within two hours.

By-elections were held in Chalfilh (Mizoram), Bhatpar (Uttar Pradesh), Moga (Punjab), Nalhati Birbhum, English Bazar and Rejinagar in West Bengal, Alagpur (Assam), Kalyanpur (SC) in Bihar and Chandgad (Maharashtra).

The Election Commission had deputed observers to the States to ensure fair and peaceful counting. Arrangements have been made for monitoring it from Nirvachan Sadan, Commission headquarters, here.
