The Uttar Pradesh Police are yet to make any arrest in connection with the murder case of BJP leader Vijay Pandit who was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Saturday. Senior officers said they have narrowed down on some persons and were close to achieving a breakthrough.

A senior police officer from the State said the conspiracy of the murder was hatched in a jail. Mr. Pandit’s wife and Dadri Nagar Panchayat chairman Geeta Pandit had earlier named Samajwadi Party leader Narendra Bhati and noted gangster Anil Dujana as those behind the murder of her husband. Dujana is currently lodged in Dasna Jail but the officer did not confirm that it was him they had zeroed in on.
