Congress workers admit to attacking Ramdev’s convoy

“They were upset at his remarks against Digvijay Singh”

Miffed at his remarks on AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, Congress workers attacked Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s convoy here on Thursday — and later boasted about it to the press.

As Ramdev reached a private college on the Ayodhya bypass road, Congress workers demonstrated with black flags and threw stones at his convoy, resulting in injuries to a sub-inspector of police. The police arrested several Congress workers. Congress workers and supporters of Mr. Digvijay Singh were angry over remarks made by Ramdev a few days ago. The Yoga guru had apparently warned Mr. Singh of bad health if he continued making statements against him.

The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee did not even wish to conceal the attack and proudly described the actions of party workers.

“The workers were so angry at Baba’s insulting remarks on their leader Digvijay Singh that they pelted stones at vehicles in his convoy,” read an MPCC release. “The agitated workers also tore off posters of Ramdev and blackened his pictures at some places,” the release said. Reacting to the incident, Ramdev said it was the “height of goondaism.”
