The Opposition Congress in Manipur is getting ready to move the High Court for the disqualification of six of its MLAs who defected to the ruling BJP.

Party vice-president Khumukcham Joykishan said on Wednesday, “We are not happy with Speaker Yumnam Khemchand’s statement that the matter is under process.”

T. Shyamkumar joined the BJP before the party formed a coalition government in the State on March 15. G. Zou, O. Lukhoi, Y. Surchandra, S. Bira and Ngamthang Haokip joined the party later. “All the six defectors should have resigned from the Assembly as CM N. Biren Singh did,” he said.
