: Organising its first major party event after former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi’s exit to form his own political outfit, the Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress has planned a major “workers’ conclave” on June 21 in Marwahi town of Bilaspur district, considered the Jogi family stronghold.

Wave of enthusiasm

“Because of the recent political developments in Chhattisgarh (Ajit Jogi’s exit), a wave of enthusiasm is evident among all Congress workers across the State,” Chhattisgarh Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi told The Hindu .

When asked if it was a show of strength by the Congress in Ajit Jogi’s bastion, Mr. Trivedi said: “I strongly object calling Marwahi a bastion of Ajit Jogi. Marwahi town is the Congress party’s bastion.”
