The Congress on Friday accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in Jammu & Kashmir of “risking national security” by releasing on the eve of Eid youth booked in stone-throwing cases.
State Congress general secretary Manohar Lal Sharma questioned why the government withdrew 104 stone-pelting cases against 634 people.
“The harshness of their offences,” Mr. Sharma said, “was not scrutinised. We strongly condemn the suo motu release of stone-throwers”
He also accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of being “hell-bent on implementing her agenda, compromising national security.”
Rubbishes chargesRubbishing the Congress’s charge, BJP State spokesman Khalid Jehangeer said: “The blood-thirsty Congress party is now against our young blood. Its leaders’ nexus with the National Conference alienated people of Kashmir. They are at it again...”
