Cong. leader’s son booked for beating woman

The son of an Uttarakhand Congress leader allegedly beat up and misbehaved with a woman following which a case has been registered against him, the police said on Sunday.

The incident happened on Saturday when the accused, Vikrant Thapli, son of Uttarakhand Congress leader Godavari Thapli, took the woman for a drive in a car around Race Course area, during which he allegedly beat her up and also tore her clothes, they said.

The police said they are investigating the matter before initiating any proceedings.

Charges

An FIR was lodged under Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the IPC.

Meanwhile, Ms. Godavari said her son and the alleged victim were in a relationship. - PTI
