Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Saturday here that the fresh complaint filed against former Haryana Director General of Police S. P. S. Rathore by the molestation victim's brother would be treated as a First Information Report(FIR).
The victim's brother had filed a complaint seeking action against Mr. Rathore under Section 306 of the IPC (abetment to suicide).
It may be recalled that Mr. Rathore had been convicted and sentenced by a CBI court here on December 21 to undergo six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1,000 for molesting a teenager in August 1990. The girl had committed suicide in December 1993.
Mr. Hooda, who was talking to media persons at the general body meeting of the Haryana unit of the Congress, said that the fresh complaint filed by the girl's brother had alleged that the police officer had not only tortured him in police custody, but also “compelled” his sister to commit suicide.
He reiterated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was constituted to investigate two fresh complaints filed last week by the father and brother of the victim in which they had alleged harassment at the hands of Mr. Rathore, had been asked to submit the report as early as possible to ensure justice to the family.
