A teacher of Zoology department of Cotton College Bibha Devi was found murdered in her quarters in the Professors' colony of the College here on Saturday.
Police said that her body was found lying on the floor of the bedroom of her apartment.
From the preliminary investigation the police suspected that the teacher was murdered around 5.30 p.m. while a neighbour discovered her body lying on the floor around 8.30 p.m.
A curtain was lying on her body, which the police suspected, was used by the murderer to gag the single, unmarried teacher.
Investigations on
“It is a case of murder. Investigations are on to nab the culprit. From the preliminary investigation we have gathered that a labourer was supposed to come to meet her around 5.30 p.m. The time of occurrence of the murder was also around 5.30 p.m. We are trying to trace the labourer and hope to get some more leads once we are able to track him,” said city Additional Superintendent of Police Longnit Terang.
