Cold wave continues to sweep Himachal Pradesh

Intense cold wave continued to sweep Himachal Pradesh with several areas in the state recording below freezing point temperature.

Keylong in tribal Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest with minus 5.8 deg C, while it was minus 1 deg C in Kalpa.

The biting cold conditions caused freezing of lakes, springs, rivulets and tributaries in high altitude tribal areas.

Bhuntar in Kullu district was coldest in lower and mid hills with the mercury dipping to minus 1.2 deg C.

Elsewhere, Mandi recorded 0.3 deg C, Sundernagar 0.6 deg C and Solan 0.8 deg C.normal.

The state capital Shimla was comparatively warmer with a low of 5.8 deg C, 1.9 degree above normal.
