A civilian was shot dead on Saturday evening in a firing incident in Srinagar's Batamaloo area after a minor incident of stone pelting on a BSF patrol.
In a separate incident, a civilian was killed and another injured as unidentified gunmen open fire in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Batamaloo According to eyewitnesses, a BSF vehicle was passing in the area when the incident took place. Locals claimed that the BSF jawans fired in to crowd after stones hit their vehicle. The police identified the victim as Sajad Hassan, a resident of Baramulla district, presently living in S.D. Colony, Srinagar. A police official said there was no deployment in the area when the incident took place. "We are looking into the circumstances that led to the killing," said a police official.
