A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan killed his senior officer at a CISF camp in Ramnagar near Garden Reach in Kolkata’s South-western parts.
The incident occurred at around 1.30 am on Sunday and is believed to be the fallout of a heated altercation between the two, police sources here on Sunday. The jawan surrendered soon after and was arrested.
“The CISF jawan Nilkanth Behera, had arguments with his senior officer Inspector Gurupada Sheeth for being inattentive during roll-call on Saturday evening”, V. Nesakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Port division told The Hindu .
“Mr. Behera , was talking on his mobile phone during roll-call and Inspector Sheeth admonished him for his inattentiveness”, he added.
Later that night the jawan confronted Mr. Sheeth and heated argument took place between the two.
“During the argument Mr. Bahera, who was already angry because of being chided by his senior officer in the evening, lost his temper and fired three rounds from his service rifle, killing Inspector Sheeth on the spot”, said Mr. Nesakumar.
After killing his senior officer, Mr. Behera surrendered and was arrested, he added.
