Twenty nine Congress MLAs were suspended from Chhattisgarh assembly on Thursday for disrupting the house proceedings over the alleged multi-crore scam in the state’s Civil Supplies Department (CSD).
Aggressive after the party’s national spokespersons addressed a press conference in New Delhi on Wednesday accusing the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and his family of being “beneficiaries” of the scam, Congress MLAs raised the issues during the question hour on Thursday.
Led by state Congress chief Bhupesh Baghel, party MLAs demanded CBI inquiry into the CSD scam.
The house witnessed two adjournments amidst din.
But undeterred Congress MLAs trouped to the well of the House when it was reassembled after the second adjournment. They were automatically suspended as per the Assembly rules.
Even after Speaker Gourishankar Agrawal announced the suspension, the Congress MLAs continued sloganeering against Raman Singh government and sat on ‘dharna’ outside the assembly demanding CBI inquiry into the scam.
“The state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) which is probing the scam has no reach inside the CM house. But the names of relatives and family members of the CM are cropping up in the scam,” said Mr.Baghel.
