Chhattisgarh Express derails near Raipur

Passengers of Chhattisgarh Express (train No 18237) which runs between Bilaspur and Amritsar had a narrow escape on Wednesday when its engine and an SLR coach derailed near the Kumhari station.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

“The locomotive and the SLR (seating-cum-luggage) coach of the Amritsar-bound Chhattisgarh Express derailed at around 4.55 pm near Kumhari station (13 km from Raipur station),” said Rahul Gautam, Divisional Railway Manager, Raipur Division.

Senior officials and engineering staff had rushed to the spot and the cause of derailment can be ascertained only after the investigation, he told PTI.

The movement of the trains on the track would resume soon, he said. PTI
