An Additional Sessions Court in Mapusa, north Goa, on Friday framed charges against Congress MLA and former Goa Minister Atanasio Monserrate, his wife and Congress MLA Jennifer Monserrate and 35 others in the Panaji police station attack case.

The hearing in the case has been fixed for November 19.

The CBI Court in Mapusa had, on September 12, rejected the plea of Monserrate and others seeking to quash a chargesheet filed against them in the case of violent crowd attack on the city police station in 2008. The Court found the case fit for framing charges.

Mr. Monserrate, then a ruling Congress-led coalition MLA, is facing charges of leading a mob of around 500 people from his erstwhile Taleigao constituency near here, which became violent and attacked the police station on February 19, 2008, demanding release of a few of his supporters.

Former Panaji Mayor Tony Rodrigues and his wife Ubaldina Rodrigues are also involved in the case.
