Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling has received an invitation from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s office to attend the second Global Climate Summit to be held at Los Angeles next month.
Noble Laureate R K Pachauri had sought Mr. Chamling’s availability to attend the summit and later an invitation was extended by the California Governor’s office to him, Chamling’s Press Advisor Bhim Dahal told reporters here on Saturday.
Contrary to scepticism expressed by political opponents, the efforts of the state government towards environmental issues have been duly acknowledged in the country and abroad, he said.
Mr. Dahal rubbished Congress’ charge that Mr. Chamling is visiting US to meet his children studying there.
