S.K. Vashist, member of Central team in Odisha, reached Ganjam on Thursday to take stock of the situation after demonetisation.
Mr Vashist, Joint Secretary of Food and Public Distribution department of the the Union government, held a review meeting at the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), southern division, in Berhampur. Later he visited some villages in the Berhampur sub-division to interact with the people about their problems and suggestions after the demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes.
The review meeting in the RDC office was attended by Ganjam District Collector Prem Chand Choudhary, passenger bus operators’ associations of south Odisha districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapara, Rayagada, representatives of Regulated Market Committees, peasants’ organisations and officials of different government departments.
Officials of different banks including the Regional Rural Bank, Utkal Gramin Bank, agriculture department and leaders of truck owners’ association were also present in this meeting.
Mr Vashist collected feedback about impact of demonetisation on different sections of society.
