Celebrities present at the Mumbai hotel during the rave party busted by the police on Sunday night have pleaded innocence. “There was no rave party. Our romantic date was busted,” TV actors and real-life couple Apoorva and Shilpa Agnihotri told The Hindu on Monday.

Ms. Shilpa said the party was attended by persons from all walks of life. “There were three journalists, a scientist, a doctor,” she said.

Fashion designer Rocky S, who was also detained for medical tests, in a statement said: “Yes, I was present when the incident took place but I had just dropped by for 10 minutes to wish my friend, Samantha, on in her birthday. Since I had a flight to catch the next morning, I was just on my way out when the incident occurred. I was shocked as the raid started, more so since I hadn't done drugs or anything like that.”

Ms. Shilpa said, “It was just a sun-down, pool party. We both entered the hotel at 6.30 p.m. and the music started going down by 7 p.m. The next thing we see is a brigade of cops.”

Mr. Apoorva said the entire experience was nothing less than a nightmare for them. Both of them were invited by a common friend who was also present at the party.
