Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Secretary-General and MLA Ajay Singh Chautala on Monday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the alleged sex scandal reportedly involving senior police officers at the Haryana Police Academy (HPA) at Madhuban (Karnal).
Talking to media persons here, Mr.Chautala said that the alleged scandal should be “probed by an independent agency such as the CBI to ensure impartiality.’’
He disclosed that he had copies of many complaints written by the junior women police officers undergoing training at the HPA as well as other ‘proofs’ to substantiate the “allegations”.
He added that a delegation of INLD leaders led by former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala would call on Haryana Governor at the Raj Bhawan here on Tuesday and apprise him about the “scandal.’’
Meanwhile, in a related development, Haryana Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against vernacular newspaper “Abhi Abhi’’ and said legal action was being initiated against “the owners, publishers, printers, editors, reporters and distributors of the newspaper as also against the subsequent manipulators for trying to tarnish the image of the Haryana Police Academy.
In a statement released to the media, HPA Director V.N. Rai said that the newspaper had published ‘scandalous material’ which was absolutely baseless and fabricated.
He further said that the HPA was engaged in the task of transforming the police trainees into a democratic body of professionally competent individuals, accountable to the citizens of the State.
