The CBI on Wednesday filed the much awaited status report on the mysterious death of a young forest guard, Hoshiyar Singh, in the Himachal High Court.

The forest guard was found hanging upside down from a tree in Seri-Katanda of Karsog division in Mandi district in June. The State police had initially called it a case of suicide but later arrested four people when residents took to the streets.

The case was handed over to the CBI on August 13 after the High Court’s intervention, with the investigating agency being told to constitute a Special Investigation Team.

In its submission to the court on Wednesday, the CBI said that it had formed an SIT and that its officers are visiting the crime scene regularly.
