Burdwan blast: Sujana remanded to judicial custody

Burdwan blast case accused Sahanur Alom’s wife Sujana Begam was on Saturday remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.

Produced in the court amidst tight security, Sujana had been in the police custody previously, Guwahati Senior Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari said.

Sujana was apprehended by the police from Guwahati on November 6.

She was suspected to have underground training in jihadi movement “somewhere in India”, a police spokesman had said.

Sahanur Alom alias Doctor, hailing from Chatala village in the Sarthebari police station area in Barpeta district in Assam, is one of the main accused in the Burdwan blast case in West Bengal.

Alom is absconding and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared a Rs 5 lakh reward for anyone giving information leading to his arrest.

An NIA team searched Sahanur’s house in Barpeta district and seized some materials, including some illegal documents, Arabian coins, bank passbooks and some money collection receipt books of Talimul Madrassa in West Bengal.
