The Jammu and Kashmir government is planning to transform central Kashmir’s Budgam district into a modern satellite and mega city of the State.
The concept of ‘Budgam Master Plan’ was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry Aga Syed Ruhullah and senior officials, including the Chief Town Planner discussed the plan, an official spokesman said.
“It was unanimously agreed that attention is required to develop Budgam as a modern satellite and one of the mega cities of the State,” the spokesman said.
The master plan has made provisions for earmarking large chunks of land for residential and commercial purposes and for public utilities, the spokesman said
Mr. Ruhullah has called for preserving the natural landscape of the district, while emphasising the work on the link roads and town roads should be completed at a fast pace so that double and triple laning system is introduced in the district.
“They have also called for special attention for the protection of the environment in the district,” he added.
