BSP supremo Mayawati meets the families of the two cousins who were raped and kille3d in Badaun district.

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Sunday threatened to stage an indefinite dharna in Badaun if the Uttar Pradesh Police did not immediately prosecute all perpetrators of the gang rape and murder of two teenaged cousins at Katra Sadatganj village in the district.

Talking to the kin of the victims for over 20 minutes, Ms. Mayawati said the BSP would not rest till the innocent girls got justice. “Do not fear. The MLA and cadres of the BSP will be always ready to protect you,” she told the sobbing mothers and grandfather of the girls who were hanged from a tree after being raped. Seven Yadav men — three brothers, two policemen and two unnamed persons — have been accused in the case.
