One militant was killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Pir Panchal valley’s Rajouri district on Tuesday as the Border Security Forces (BSF) foiled a fresh infiltration bid by a group of militants.

A Jammu-based BSF spokesman said the personnel foiled the bid in Keri Sector, Rajouri, near the LoC.

“Around midnight, alert troops deployed near the fencing sensed a suspicious movement of a group of three to four terrorists. The militants heavily fired on the troops. One terrorist was killed in the gunfire,” said the spokesman.

The exchange of fire continued for half an hour.

The other militants managed to escape, he said. A black bag, a night vision monocular, and an AK-47 magazine were among the other things found near the fence.
