Brisk polling in Lakshadweep, 26 per cent turnout

The total electorate in the constituency is 49,821 in the 10 inhabited islands which form part of the Lok Sabha seat.

Brisk polling was witnessed on Thursday in Lakshadweep Lok Sabha seat with 26.19 per cent voters exercising their franchise till 11 AM.

Polling officials said there was heavy turnout of voters, with long queues in all 44 booths.

The total electorate in the constituency is 49,821 in the 10 inhabited islands which form part of the Lok Sabha seat.

Six contestants are in the fray in the elections, with a fierce contest in the offing between sitting MP Hamdullah Sayeed of Congress and P.P. Mohammed Faisal of NCP. CPI (M), BJP and Samajwadi Party have also put up candidates in the constituency.
