Boy found dead after being caught cheating in exam

The body of a class IX student, who was caught copying during an examination at a school in Nadia district of West Bengal, was found in the Churni river on Saturday, police said.

A student of Anil Smriti High School at Krishnaganj, Dipankar Das (15) was caught copying on Thursday and his answer script taken away. The school headmaster Samir Kumar Dawn said he had contacted Dipankar’s father Nikhil Das and asked him to meet him.

Das, a carpenter by profession, told the headmaster that he would not be able to reach the school during working hours as he was working away from home. Dipankar was allowed to go home. But the boy never returned home. . On Friday afternoon, the police spotted Dipankar’s cycle and school bag on the banks of the Churni near a burning ghat at Krishnaganj and later found his body. — PTI
