After over three weeks of day-to-day interrogation, Punjab Police on Wednesday night arrested boxer Ram Singh, sparring partner of Olympian Vijender Singh, in connection with the massive drug haul near here last month.

Mr. Ram Singh is the 16th accused to be arrested following recovery of 26 kg of heroin worth over Rs. 100 crore from the house of a Canada-based NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon at Zirakpur in Mohali.

Vijender Singh, on Wednesday made himself available for an out-of-competition dope test by National Anti-Doping Agency officials, apparently under pressure from the Sports Ministry. He had refused to undergo tests ever since the scandal broke out about a month back.
