Blast kills Assam Rifles havildar

A havildar of Assam Rifles was killed and three others were seriously wounded when insurgents detonated two remote-controlled foreign-made bombs on Friday morning along the National Highway 39 near Moreh College, five km away from Moreh town along the international border.

The deceased has been identified as Brahmah Bahadur.

Another havildar and two riflemen were the ones injured.

Evacuated to Army hospital

They were evacuated by helicopter to the Army hospital at Leimakhong.

Personnel of 9 Assam Rifles were on foot patrol along the highway, when the bombs, planted on roadside mountain slopes, were detonated.

Reinforcements were rushed for combing operations in the nearby mountains.
